In 2014, the members of Team Uniting Nations rowed from Monterey, California to Honolulu, Hawaii as part of the Great Pacific Race in 43 days 5 hours and 30 minutes to set two new Guinness World Records as the first and the fastest four to row the Pacific.
We are now selecting a team of four men from around the world to break that record in 2016 and we are inviting you to apply now. We think that with the right crew and a little bit of luck with the weather a crossing time of under 35 days is possible.
This extreme adventure and World Record attempt is not for the faint hearted, the size of the challenge should not be underestimated. However, you don’t need to have rowing experience before applying for this incredible challenge as the rowing technique for these wide and stable boats can be taught in an afternoon and courses are taken learn navigation and other required skills. We know that a strong team will have people with a mix of assorted skills from navigation, endurance racing experience, engineering skills or water sports experience, but you must be willing to push yourself hard physically to achieve this incredible World Record.
As part of the Great Pacific Race you will receive exceptional levels of support, provided by our experienced experts throughout your journey from applying through to your arrival in Hawai’i. The boat, all equipment, race entry fee and logistics are included in the pay per seat fee making this the easiest and cheapest way to not only row the Pacific but race across it. After successful selection all you will need to do is complete a few courses, train hard and arrive in Monterey ready for team training and ready to race.
